Read the essay below. Afterwards,
try to get the best understanding you can of the following questions.
(1) Can you think of the Black community in the same light you
think of the members of your family?
(2) Who, in your opinion, carry the most weight: those who find
reason after reason to continue or those who find reason after
reason to quit?
(3) Can a person's attitude spell the difference between the success
or failure of a Black Power Economic reality?
(4) Is it probable that the development of a Black Power Economic
reality will be a frustrating experience?
Class #6: What Has To Be Managed? ATTITUDE [Audio Version]
Economics is a science; an organized system of activities (some economic systems are more highly organized than others) as opposed to a random series of activities. This will be one of several classes that asks fundamental Economics questions, and answers those questions as simply as possible. The question for this class is, "What has to be managed?"
We Have To Manage Our Attitude
On the personal and national/community
levels, there are several resources Black People have to manage.
These resources include, but are not necessarily limited to, the
following: People, Attitudes, Energy , Time, Skills, Wealth and
Money. In this class we will take a brief look at Attitude.
If your concerns revolve exclusively around you and your family,
your attitude needs to be adjusted. An effective Black economic
initiative must revolve around Black PEOPLE, Our COMMUNITIES,
Our RACE. The attitude adjustment you need to make is the following:
Recognize that the people who are not in your family are just
as human as those in your family, and understand that it is just
as important for you to help provide for others as for yourself
and your family.
THOSE WHO WANT TO WILL. Those who want to will endure the hardships
and frustrating, error prone, back and forth experience of finding
out HOW to do what We need to do to make Black Power Economics
functional. THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT TO WILL NOT. Those who do not
want to will find reason after reason to quit, to be critical,
to say it's a waste of time. Those who want to will find reason
after reason to continue. In many regards, it is that simple.
One of the keys to establishing a Black Power Economic reality
is YOUR attitude. It is not the attitude of your brother, sister,
neighbor or community activist. YOUR attitude is just as powerful
as everyone else's. If YOUR attitude is positive, you will play
a critical role in the development of an independent Black economic
reality. If your attitude is not positive, if you are a naysayer,
you will play a critical role for those who try to defeat the
development of an independent Black economic reality. YOUR attitude
is one of the major keys.
